# Boilpoints > Boilpoints is an iPhone podcast app that collects every podcast segment about the same story into one place, called a point. It shows which shows covered a story, when, for how long, and how hot the story is running. The app is in private beta; access is requested by email. ## Core ideas - **Point:** a story or topic, for example "The Halloran Interrogation Tapes, Unsealed". Each point has an origin (the event behind it, with date and source), a summary, a heat level and a timeline of segments. - **Segment:** the part of an episode where a show discusses a point. Each segment keeps the show, genre, date, episode title, exact time range and a summary, plus its own likes and comments. - **Legacy:** segments that add something new to a story are marked "+ Legacy", which separates new angles from recaps. A point's Legacy lists those angles in the order they surfaced. - **Heat:** every point has a heat jar that fills as more shows cover it. The number in the jar is the count of shows. Levels are Cold, Warming, Simmering, Boiling and Boiled over. Only Boiling and Boiled over appear as badges. ## Using the app - **Browse:** six categories (News, Business & finance, True crime, AI & tech, Comedy, Lifestyle & health). Points can be sorted by Boiling or New and filtered by Local or Global. The whole app takes on the colour of the selected category. - **Following:** follow a point to collect it in the Following tab. New segments show as a "+N NEW" badge, and a "new since your last visit" card with a Jump button opens at the first unheard segment. - **Comments:** every segment has its own comment sheet, sorted by New or Top rated. Comments have a red-to-green vote bar, replies that quote the original, and a flag option (spam or self-promotion, harassment or hate, misleading or false, off-topic or other). Comments are limited to 255 characters. - **Profiles:** listeners and podcasters have profiles with three interest slots (the main slot sets the profile colour), connected apps (Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube), an activity graph (Listening, Casting, Commenting), and a Points tab and a Comments tab. ## Boilpoints score The score covers the last 90 days and appears as a coloured chip next to a person's name in comments. - Likes on your segments: x3 - Comments on your segments: x6 - Every 50 views: +1 - Comments you write: x5 - Likes you give: x2 - Upvotes on your comments: x2 Chip colour tiers: 1, 25, 100, 500, 1K, 10K, 50K, 100K, 250K. ## Availability - Platform: iPhone (iOS) - Status: private beta - Beta access: request with an email address on https://boilpoints.com/#beta ## Links - [Website](https://boilpoints.com/): overview of the app and beta sign-up - [Full description for LLMs](https://boilpoints.com/llms-full.txt) ## Company Boilpoints is made by Introduct, Inc., 4655 Dapple Ln, Boulder CO 80301, USA.
